Mine had a port right on the side of the transmission. This is for the 5.4 but I think they're the same.

If you find this port location please let me know. I am also in the same process but I do not know where to connect the sensor into the transmission as well. Some pics of the location would be greatly helpful.

I can either use a mechanical or electrical trans temp gauge. Which would you guys go with? I have read where electrical gauges are easy to install but are not reliable. It looks like I will have to cut a trans line either way to install electrical or mechanical. If you look at my photos though I believe that there is a port on the side of the tranny for a gauge hook-up. I have also read that if you install a gauge in that port you will not receive a true temp reading. I do not want to drill the trans pan to install a gauge. I just want a good, dependable gauge electrical or mechanical that I can get accurate readings with.
