Help with rear sway bar

I bought the hellwig anti-sway bar kit for my 2000 Harley f150 and installed it today, but it dont look right,, i have a 2" drop on the rear and order kit for the drop, the kit had 2 sets of bolts for the drop and i used the short ones but, they still point down toward the ground,, works good but it it right,, instructions sucked.,, anyone else have this set up and is your like this?

Mount the axle brackets so that when you look at the passenger's rear tire that the u-bolts point towards 2 o'clock. Then, hinge the bar up and down without end links until the side arms are horizontal. Take a measurement of what length the end link bolts and spacers would need to be. Call Hellwig and they'll send you that length or go to the hardware store and buy some in that length and cut down the center spacer.

ok,

Thanks MAx,,, are they supposed to be level with the weight on the wheels and sitting normal... because they are not now.... i have it mounted like you said on the axle. but it seems like the bracket on the frame needs to go up or something, if i pull it level the bar hits the bracket............

Yes, weight on wheels, sitting normal, with the bar's side arms as close to horizontal/level as possible. A little bit off is fine too. If you remove the end links and hinge the bar horizontal, is there space between the bar and the frame bracket??...there should be.

no space

they butt up together and become horizonal, it like the bracket is wrong, but the way the holes are drilled , it wont fit any other way, uness i drill.... now, i could take the link out and bolt them together with a bushing in between, i guess.... i think they sent me the wrong kit........................

Agreed, my frame bracket only fits one way. I wouldn't remove the link. Something is wrong. Mine has 2" lowering shackles, uses the standard Hellwig/not the lowered one, and I have plenty of room for an end-link. I had to chop the spacer down 1". Have you spoken with the Hellwig tech line?

You mention "front link"; I assume that we're still talking about the REAR anti-sway bar end links (I have the front one too)? If so, the spacers that I received were 2&3/4" and I chopped them down to 1&3/4". Once it's tightened down with bushings and washers, the total distance from the bracket to the anti-sway bar is now 2&3/4". I believe my kit came with a 2&3/4" and a 4" set.

Max Mitchell: Sorry to interupt the discussion here. Saw your sig in an "engines" thread, I couldn't private message you or email you... I'm wondering if you could add your experience with your FM y-pipe & 3" SI/SO ultra-flo cat-back in the https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...threadid=73370 discussion thread?

Thanks.

hd-It'll all be fine once you get the correct end-link spacing. I have the matching Hellwig anti-sway bar up front; part #7646. The factory one is 1&1/8" and the Hellwig is 1&7/16". It's a very substantial piece and made, by far, the best handling improvement that I made.
