Having lift kit installed. How much should I be looking at?

Still looking at a lift kit for my 08' 2wd. Pretty much decided on the 6" Skyjacker. My question though is how much am I looking at having it installed? I know I could call around and get a quote/s but I'm more wondering about a, "You shouldn't have to pay more then $xxxx or so in labor", from people who have had them installed.

How much did your lift kit labor costs cost you?

Rob

Call some shops and see what the going rate is.

They'll usually make you a better deal if you buy the lift and have it installed thru them.

for a basic skyjacker stay below 2k installed, and shoot for more around $1800-$1900

Thanks "neighbor" .

I'll eventually call around, was just hoping others around here could offer up some info on how much it cost to have their lifts installed.

I paid 1900 for my fabtech 6" including tax and shipping from 4wheelparts. My mom found a local shop that did the install, alignment, mounting and balancing wheels for 500.

If you find a good deal on the lift, I have a friend who probably would be willing to install it to save you some money. He's a BMW master tech east of Denton.

Your cheapest price is probably going to be dealing with one shop for it all tho.

Thanks for the offer, but like you said, I'm going to try and get it all done at the same place. Warranty for the work is nice to have too.

Anybody think I could get 6" skyjacker lift, set of 35" trail grapplers, 4.30 motive gears(just ring/pinion) plus install/labor for about 4k?

what size rim?

Don't pay more than $700 installed for rear gears.

Assuming $2k for lift.
$1300 for tires (in a 17" wheel) I paid $1500 for 5 35/1250/17 trail grapplers about 5 months ago IIRC.
$700 gears

I could see it being all done for 4k. Don't forget you probably need a wheel with 4.5" backspacing (not sure on skyjackers exact specs so check to make sure your current wheels will work)

what motor do you have? if the 4.2 or 4.6 i'd consider 4.56's to give you a little extra low end grunt.

Mine have 5.71 backspace. But wandell seems pretty confident they will fit.

It's 4.6 but 2wd. Since 4.30's are made for the 2wd's, that's what people here have recommended the most for my set-up.

Btw, do you know of any good/respectable shops in the area that could do everything? And at a good price at that? I'd be pretty pumped if I could get this all done for less the 4K.

I honestly don't, but i'm not to familiar with the dallas area. I'm from houston

Baertrax and tribe 4x4 are good shops, not sure if they do bolt on work though. Worth a call to see.

Rock N' Roll is open, but their customer service is crap.

If you tow, go to 4.56, if you just drive it 4.30's will be a good choice.

Yea no towing at all so I think 4.56 would be overkill. Might run over to 4wheelparts later today and get some info.

Talked to Josh at Baertrax. He said that, even though it looks like they are more into the fabrication stuff, that most of their work is bolt on and gears etc. He has all my info on what I want but is in Oklahoma for a 4x4 event this weekend. So hoping to get a quote when he gets back.
