Shock Replacements?

Hey people.. I have the ProComp Stage 1 lift on my 08 F-150.. and I'm curious about some alternatives to my current suspension setup. 99% of my driving is city driving.. and some of streets are pretty rough around town.. Maybe it's just me, but my truck rides pretty stiff from time to time.. I have 35" Toyos at 45-50psi, so I'm sure they aren't helping much.. but how much could I look to benefit from replacing my shocks? My truck only has 7000 miles..

I have the stock coilover in the front and I think the rears are the ProComp ES3000 that come with the Stage 1.

I've heard the Billstein 5100s are a pretty decent replacement, and they seem fairly priced.. are they worth it? Anyone have any other recommendations? Would I need to have another alignment done and how much would you imagine it would cost to have them installed? lol

Honestly, your tire PSI seems a little high. 45PSI is like what you would use for hauling crap around town all day, which i don't think you are doing. i would back down to 35 PSI and see how that impacts your ride before spending money on upgrading shocks.

you would be amazed how much tire selection/PSI affects ride quality.

Maybe so.. but the Max Cold PSI is 65 for my 35x12.5 r20 Toyo MTs.. 35 psi might have worked for the the stockers.. but I think it would prolly be way too low for daily driving..

I would still back down to at least 40 PSI, just to see... I would also suspect it may be in the ride of the M/T tire. I can take my lifted 03 down the interstate, with the older gas shocks and torsion bar suspension and drive at 85mph, and it rides extremely smooth on A/T tires. Basically, I'm just trying to say that I don't want to see you spend money on something, and not be satisfied.

I run my 35's at 40 PSI for daily driving, and have done so for over a year, 15k miles w/ no issues...

The only problem with lowering your psi is you will see a drop in fuel mileage..... I run my 305/50/r20's at max. To me I like the ride to be a little rougher plus I get the added bonus of getting just a little bit better fuel mileage. And yes I know if we were all concerned about fuel mileage then we wouldnt have bought a truck and lifted it.

Tire pressure can make a huge difference in ride quality.

i ran 40-45 in my E range 35's on my pro comp kit. Check the load range on your tires and work from there.
It could also be your wheels. I went from 18's to 20's on the same tire and I can tell a huge difference.
If you want to change up your suspension, get the bilstein coilovers if you are on a budget, or a one-piece adjustable coilover (fabtech, swayaway, procomp) if you have the money. For the rear I would get the bilsteins or the procomp mx6 adjustable shocks. I had a procomp stage II on my F150 and loved it. It ran better than stock

I run 45psi and I think it feels only slightly if at all different than when I ran 35psi. Could be that the King coilovers and piggybacks are just that money though. Go with King all the way! You won't regret it! Give them a call and I'm sure they will have something to fit your Pro Comp. If not then go with another coilover. I've heard that the Bilsteins are rougher than stock.
