Lift Size and Tire Size

hey guys im new here but i just got a 2008 f150 xlt. Ive looked around the forums but cant really find any answers. im wanting to lift it around 3 or 4in and put 18in rockstars with 35in tires. What kind of lift do i need for 35s to fit. I dont really want a big 6in sus. lift but keep it around 3 and also level it at the same time. I wanna look online for wheels and tires but i dont really know what i need to look for as in the numbers for the tires (X/X/X) and the bolt pattern, backspace, offset..etc in the wheels. If anyone has any ideas or anything for me please let me know and i appreciate any and every response in advance.
thanks

look at my album rancho lift, 35's on 20x10's. you could get a 2 inch autospring leveling kit or bilstein shocks and run 35's on a aftermarket rim with stock or near stock backspacing

some choices:

2-2 1/2" leveling kit = 35's on stock wheels or wheels w/ similar specs
3" leveling kit= to much stress on front end parts
4" rancho= really good kit
4 1/2" superlift= don't know anyone running this kit, pimphor runs their 6"
2" leveling kit + Body lift= 5" of lift would be about $1200 for this installed. BL on 04-08's is expensive

2" of lift or more will allow you to run 35's

ATOM you got a awesome looking truck. and thats a 4 in rancho lift? how much did they run you? do you know what the stock backspacing is by chance?

06yz250f which way would you recommend and what type of 2-2 1/2" leveling kit would you recommend.

What would be the X/X/X that i would look for for a 35in tire to fit on 18in rockstars.

A 305/70-18 is a 35x12.50 tire and a 325/65-18 is a 35x13.00 tire.
Your oem wheels are 18x7.5 inches with 5.5 inches of backspacing and a 6x135mm bolt pattern. I'd suggest going with a 9 inch wide wheel with around 5 inches of backspacing.
Another good kit to consider is the RCD 4.5 inch kit.

most members here run autospring leveling kits. there $70 of ebay. i personally do not like leveling kits, i plan on a 1" daystar eventually but am hoping it won't effect my ride. my dad and sister both have 2 1/2" kits, and i just don't like how their trucks drive compared to un-leveled trucks. darren just installed new struts ask how is ride quality is with new struts.

the rancho kit is around $1700 with shocks + install. its kind of a pricey kit, but well worth it. that was the kit i originally wanted cuz i love lifted trucks and stock wheels but i got my lift for a steal so i can't complain.

what usually happens on this site is people ask do they want a 2 1/2" kit or a 4" kit, they go with the 2 1/2" kit and 6 months later put a 4" kit on. or people do a 6" kit and later bump it to 8" because they were unhappy with their 6" kit. so my recommendation would be get a 4-4 1/2" kit and you will be happy. if your unsure you want that high, find someone locally and ask them to look at their truck and maybe climb in and out a couple times and make sure its not to high for your liking before you commit. even a 6" kit isn't as high as you think, you can get a 6" pro comp off ebay for $1300 shipped.

thanks for all your responses everyone. I think yall have convinced me to get a rancho 4in. A bunch of kids at my school all have 6 in same tires and what not and so i wanna keep mine different and not make it the same. i like the way just a 4 in lift/leveled looks.
With the rancho, does it level it out as well?
I just looked on thier website but i dont see a 4in lift for a 2008 f150 2WD

My friend told me to look at the Bilstien 5100 shocks. Anyone know about those?

Not much help BUT, welcome to the site.

Oh yeah and, for what it's worth, I know you just said that you're more than comfortable with the 4" but I'd suggest that you really just consider your options before you lift. I started out with a 4" and 33s. Then went to a 6" and 35s. Now I'm goin' 8" and 37s. Just make sure that 4" is what'll make you happy now and keep you that way down the road.

Another note: from what I've read in the past, I think the Rancho 4" can be about as expensive as a 6"? Not 100% sure though.

it cant be more expensive actually. unless you find a steal somewhere there about $1700 if your lucky once you get shocks. you can get a 6" way cheaper than that. i got my BDS 6" for $2100 installed, msrp on the lift itself is $2350, i think i did pretty good

What would be the X/X/X that i would look for for a 35in tire to fit on 18in rockstars.
i got a smoking deal and paid 993 bucks delivered for the lift from autoanything, there was a big ordeal with a pricing error on the skyjacker lifts and they gave me any list at cost, and then i scored the shocks from sportrailzers for 300 shipped, but they are closed now. on average you can get a rancho with shocks for under 2000. one of the best kits on the market IMO. rims are 20x10 with a 4 5/8 backspace. it is alot for the lift, i gained over 5 inches of lift and so did a couple of other guys. so it's your money but rancho is a well know company, get what ya pay for

black rockstars in 18x9 can be had off ebay for about 700 bucks a set shipped. as for tires it all depends on what you want.

im going to a few places this weekend to get a quote on just a lift because im thinking i can order wheels and tires online alot cheaper than the places would charge.
i wanna get the nitto terra grapplers or something similar.
If someone has the chance to find links for 18in black xd rockstars and 35 in nitto terra grapplers that will work together and fit on a 2008 f150 id really appreciate it.
thanks

well this weekend i ended up gettin a new system which sounds great! but today i went over to 4wheelparts to get a quote. they told me a 3in lift/level and 4 35' procomp xtreme a/t tires with installion and everything would cost 2100. and thats without wheels. they said i would have to keep my stock rims if i wanted 35s with just a 3in lift. so now i guess i might just go with a 6 in procomp lift and new wheels and tires.

if anyone knows of any good lookin just plain black rims that look good on a 6in lift with 35s, let me know and post some pics if you can.

thanks
