Body Lift Problem

I’m in a dilemma….I have a ’05 screw 4x4 and bought a PA 3” body lift, 33” Terra Grapplers, and AR 17x8.5 wheels, but now I have had one shop say they can’t install the lift and another tell me it will take 12 to 16 hrs @ $50/hour. The body lift is costing too much between the $300 for the lift and the approx. $800 to install. I’m thinking about selling the 3” body lift and going with something else. Is there another type of body lift that is easier to install? What do you recommend doing??? I wish I would have gone with a 4” suspension lift and 35’s.

no, body lifts are a bitch to install on the 04-08 F-150 b/c all the bushings have to be replaced w/ new ones in addition to the body bolts, spacer blocks, etc. it is a labor intensive job, and no, you are not being overquoted on the number of hours it will take to do the job. is putting it on yourself out of the question?

All body lifts suck for this truck, no one brand will be easier then another. I had a shop install my 3" PA body lift, gap guards and 2" leveling kit with an alignment for $500 and some change. Maybe call around to some different shops and get pricing.

I'm not too familiar with the body lifts on the newer models but..it is usually an all day project. Alot of people on here install there own body lifts just because for the price of labor + the body lift they could have nearly bought a suspension lift. So if you have a free weekend and couple of buddies to help you out, you could always try and tackle it yourself. Saves you alota money and you'll know how everything was put on. So i say if your able to...do it yourself. Its not too difficult, just time consuming. Good luck though man.

I do not have the time to do it myself between work and being a full time student. I should be able to EBay the kit and buy something else. What would you recommend with the 33's? I was just look at this on 4wheelparts.com:

Skyjacker 3in. Suspension Kit with Platinum Shocks $555.95

THANKS!!

I'd think the 33's are too small for a 4" lift. Anyone have pics of a 4" lift with 33's?

Which, In the long run you will spend more money. Labor will not be as high, but the kit will be alot more than the body lift and install. Stick with the BL IMO.

BL's are very time consuming and when a company puts them on they have to follow EVERY step. And the estimated time to install has to be met of passed. The company cant do short cuts like we can doing it our selves. you were definitely not over quoted.

but before you go selling the body lift, id go look and see what the prices are for install of a 4" Rancho kit. Im geussing somewhere around (500) or more.

so im just gonna say keep the body lift look around and try to find a shop thats down on business and see if you can get a deal!

With shipping I paid $323 for the lift & $95 for gap fillers. I'd sell both for $370shipped as long as you don't live in BFE.

Since cost seems to be an issue, this is what I'd suggest. Just go with a 2 or 2.5 inch Autospring leveling kit. It should be around $80 for the kit. This will allow you to fit your tire/wheel combo easily. I would stay away form the 3 inch Skyjacker (or any 3 inch leveling kit). 3 inches of lift without any type of dropdown brackets is just too much. It creates really extreme ball joint angles which leads to premature wear.

y i figured it would be a pretty penny lol....but i just called two shops and they wouldnt even consider it...so im not gonna bother sorry.....i need to save up for new tires i thought you would prolly give the bl for 200 and find a shop that would install it for like 400 but thats impossible lol...i just need to decide on tires cuz ther gonna be gone in 10,000 miles if that...toyos or kumhos i cant afford to go with the nittos too short of a life span
