Lift Questions

Lately i have been on here with questions about lifting my truck. Now i have gotten the money and i will be ordering on friday. Now i am leaning towards the fabtech because for $80 more i can have new front shocks and i better looking cross member. I just talked to a guy from fabtech and says it comes with a 2" block and that it will sit very level. Well i have a reg cab with a 2.5 AS and it sits perfectly level right now. will the fabtech 6" only give me 2" all the way around more? I want it be be really high. Is the procomp 6" higher because it has a 3" block? so i guess my question is is the procomp or fabtech give me more lift?

Both will give you 6 inches of lift up front. The only difference will be the amount of lift out back, which will depend on the size of the lift block. I don't believe your truck will sit level with only a 2 inch lift block. Most people use a 3 or 4 inch lift block.

Are you going with the fabtech with the coilovers in the front? I only ask because you said you want to used the 2" AS.

The fabtech comes with new struts. It doesn't use a coil spacer like the procomp. The fabtech and a 2"AS is safe as far as i know

Yes you can use the Fabtech and a spacedr together just fine, several members do it.

I have the basic 6" Fabtech on my truck and have a 5" block in the rear. You certainly won't sit level using just the 2" block, especially if you're keeping the leveling kit installed. They may be telling you you'll sit level if you're a 4WD and you're going to stack their 2" block on top of the block already installed on your truck. Stacking blocks however is not recommended.

Fabtech is the way to go, IMO. I have plenty of pics in my gallery if ya want to take a look. I sit perfectly level, own the Fabtech "basic" lift and love it. It can take a beating and hasn't given me any complaints.

They both sit at about the same height, Pro-Comp is notorious for the "Bull dog" or "tug boat" look, meaning the back genrally sits a little bit lower then the front. Fabtech sits level. I am not sure who you talked to, but a 4x4 gets a 3" block from Fabtech. They offer their 5" block for people buying the adjustable coilovers and plan to crank them up an extra 2". So yes, if you replace the adjustable coil's extra 2" with a 2" AS, then you'd sit level as long as you got the 5" rear lift blocks.

Talk to Josh, he can hook ya up. If ya got any more questions, feel free.

** oh, and Fabtech does NOT require ANY stacking of the rear lift blocks. I don't even think they offer a 2" block.

MOST IMPORTANTLY: are you 4x4 or 4x2 ???

Mercedes, you are on the fabtech 6"??? I like the way your sig looks. I was thinking about doing like a 2inch lift but maybe the 6" isn't so big, I am new to all this I'm used to lowering cars so I'm trying to figure it all out

I'm 4x2. I have a reg. cab and with the 2.5AS i sit 1/8 from being level. The back is 1/8 taller. If i add the 2" block in the back and i get 6" up front without the spacer that means there will be 1-1.5 inches higher in the front. I really want to get the 2AS and the 5" block and i think they will make it perfectly level right? 8 inches up front and 5 in the back is a difference of 3" and that is the ammount of original rake i had.

Thanks for the compliment jvtec. And ya, its the Fabtech "Basic" (Performance) 6" lift with some 35" pro comp extreme m/t's. Really dig the set-up. Here are a couple pics so you can see it:

Like I said, some more in the gallery if ya wana take a look. I would highly suggest a similiar set-up. The truck just looks so much nicer lifted, gives it a much better stance over factory IMO.

Dacula: Ya, I think that set-up would look real good and keep ya sitting level.

AS= Auto SPring. Its a company that makes a leveling kit, blocks and add a leafs for the rear. Good company, pretty reputable, and seems to be the favorite around here. A leveling kit on top of the lift will lift it an extra 2" or so.

The basic lift costs roughly $1400 or so delivered to your door, through my buddy Crash (read my first post.... #8 on this thread)

As for wheels: check out Pro Comp's line up of wheels. They got some pretty good lookin ones IMO. As for tires, really depends on whatcha wana do with your truck.
