Exclamation Moog lower ball joints #K8965T don't fit 04 screw

It's friggen cold outside and I'm busting my butt getting the front suspension torn down and the lower ball joint out. I get the old ball out and then start pressing the new MOOG #K8695T into place. Diameter wise it's pressing in fine. Then it bottomed out nearly a 1/4" too short. The top of the joint is barely past the lip of the hole and won't press any further to get the lock ring into place.

I've checked the numbers against a few other websites and they all say this part will work on my 2004. A word of warning here:

MOOG PART #K8695T WILL NOT FIT A 2004 F150.

I'm not sure what the deal is but here I am cold to the bone and my truck drivers side suspension is laying all over the drive way. Back to putting that bad joint in so I can get to the dealer to buy ford parts.

I just got off the phone with Summit Racing, and after looking in their catalog the correct part is #K80149

Rockauto.com has the correct part number listed but there are several websites that have the wrong part number which is for the 2004 heritage. So just be aware of this issue if you plan on buying MOOG ball joints for your truck.

yea I found that out after getting off the phone with summit. I checked a few other websites and several listed this part # as correct for the new body style trucks. The customer service rep even acknowledged the website was incorrect.

Well just for speed I'm going to get the OEM parts because this rattle is driving me nuts. From now I'm going to order 05 parts as well. I wasted like 5 hours doing that crap yesterday.

Upper

What's the part number for the upper control arms? I got an estimate from a shop and they put the K8728T 2004 Heritage Model part number on it!

I'm trying to find the right one but I can't seem to pull it up.

What is the difference in the Heritage and the other 04's. One NBS and the other is like the 03? I see Heritage all over the place but never knew what the difference was.

Sorry to hear you had such a rough go of this. Your lesson learned has helped others though.

the heritage was a badge slapped on the older body style f150s to distinguish them from the new ones that came out in the same year.

It's been a little over a year and the summit catalog still shows the K8695T to fit trucks up to '06. Jegs shows the same thing and doesn't even have the K80149 item. Summit says the K80149 part does not include dust boots and is not serviceable, it that correct?

Ball joints

I have a 2004 Heritage that needs ball joints. Part numbers I got from my mechanic are:
Left upper.......K8726T
Right upper.....K8728T
Lower.............K8695T

Hope this helps.
