Jack the front of your truck up one wheel at a time and rock the wheel back and forth in all directions and have someone underneath look for any front end components that have any play in them. I have a similar problem, and found that the idler arm has some play in it. Might be a tie rod also. Good luck.

I am not sure if it is different for a regular f150, but on the lightnings the driver side lower control arm has a slot where the lower control arm bolt slides in. It was design to aid in front end alignment. The bolt should have a washer on the end that is supposed to have some gears or teeth on it to match up with some gears/teeth on the lower control arm. These get worn out and the bolt will then slide in the align slot.
JDM sells a "clunk washer" that is designed to fit in this slot and stop the bolt from moving around. This may also be your problem. Give them a call and they can describe it better. Good luck.

Does the truck make the popping noise when turning into parking spaces and turning when backing up. if so i had the same problem with my 03 f150 its a pretty common and easy to fix problem. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL SUPPORT BAR IS SLIPPING. TO FIX THE PROBLEM YOU WILL NEED TO UNBOLT THE BAR AND SCRAP OFF ALL THE OLD ADHESIVE AND PUT NEED ADHESIVE ON. I THINK ITS 5 BOLTS TO TAKE IT OFF THE BAR RUNS RIGHT UNDER THE OIL PAN AND BOLTS ON TO THE FRAME. THE ADHEISVE IS SOLD AT FORD AND IT IS PART #TA-1 AND IS ABOUT 50 BUCKS.
