RECALL: Wiper motor

FYI,
I just recieved a letter that states I need to take my truck in to be inspected to see if it is effected by this recall. The recall is on the wiper motor on some 2000 and 2001 ford models and that the motor may malfunction in a certain mode. It is safety recall 01S24.

Exclamation Mine too.

My appt. is on Wednesday morn to do the recall. They have the part needed in stock and the service adviser said it would take about 45 minutes to do the work. Possible localized engine FIRE is what the recall said. Don't need that!

Recall -Wiper Motor Assembly

I was told by a dealership it will take up to 4 hours to complete the recall fix. It would be nice to know in advance if your truck is even part of the recall. Build date 4/00

DB: yes. EE "89

.... and a hell of an engineer!

Just got a promotion and a 14.5% raise - woo hoo! Time for some more mods - Line X, Michelins, and some good shocks (probably the Bilsteins).

I would like to know just how much they have to disassemble the truck to fix the wiper motor. I hate taking my truck in for recalls. I had gearshift recall on a '87 Ranger and the dealer only put half of the screws back in the shifter boot. I had a parking brake recall on a '93 Explorer and they pulled loose my alarm and radio wiring at the fusebox (it took months to figure out what was going on there). You just know they're going to break something each time they pick up a wrench.

I also received the wiper recall. Please let us know just how "involved" this repair becomes. I would like to know what they are doing before I decide to take it in.

Wiper recall

The fix is merely a new shield, it took about two hours on my 00 w/4.6. The motor is tucked up under the cowl.

Everything looks back together and works.

The fix is just a shield? I guess that it's ok if the wiper starts a fire - as long as it has the proper shield. (I hope that you are wrong)
