Promar Reman or used 5.4?
Hey guys. I'm brand new to the site and a proud Ford owner. I'm sure there has been a lot of conversation about this topic but with me being new and needing quick advice from other Ford owners I thought I would ask my question. So I have a 98 f150 4X4 with the 5.4 vin L engine that has 236,000 miles on it. My mechanic did a compression test and said that 3 cylinders were showing low compression. So without getting into a long story,I decided that maybe I should invest into buying another engine. (Longblock reman from Promar $2,295) or a used engine for 1,900 with 1 year warranty with 148,000 miles. I don't drive my truck very much. I probably put 15,000 miles on the current engine in 3 years. Everything else on the truck is in good shape for a 98. I know I'll be investing more than the truck is worth but I don't want another payment and it's still cheaper than buying another full size truck. I'm trying to get this done pretty quick because I kinda need my truck back so any advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

I'm thinking that way myself. I just heard some bad story's about remanufactured engines vs a stock engine. For the most part Promar does have good reviews on their engines.
