Arrow Anyones chrome wheels discoloring???

I've had my chrome svt wheels for about 5 months now and noticed on one wheel in particular some fading or discoloring, almost like a gold or bronze color. The other three wheels seem ok. Anyone else having the same type of problem? This kind of crap really pisses me off.

I'll bet the discoloration is on the right, rear wheel, isn't it? It is your exhaust causing the discoloration.

i figured it was heat related, but never would have thought it was the exhaust. thanks for pointing that out!

i dont think its heat related.. its the gunk in the exhaust gasses that are messing up your rim.
the 97 f150 had the exhaust in the same place. ford changed it because of the rims starting to peel.

i remeber reading in a car magazine which stated that the new 2000 lightnings will have the exhaust moved to the rear of the truck because they discolor chrome wheels.

Yes the rear wheel does get alot of moisture BUT,I have had 2 sets of chrome wheels and you will see that it happens on all the wheels.Let me guess. Its around where the spoke meets the flat part of the wheel closest to the tire on both sides right??!!
Not exactly a great situation but is really common on lightning wheels that are chromed.Ive had two sets do this

My first set from santa anna wheel turned discolored and flaked. Nothing to do with heat or gasses just a bad chrome job. I returned them under warranty(One year) and when the new ones came I had them powdercoated clear.

I have a new wheel on the way. Chrome bubbled. Done at Wheel Concepts. Wheel has always been on drivers side.

Chrome polish took the stuff off of my wheels. Haven't had any problems with peeling or bubbling.
