Raced 5.7 HEMI

Well I was on my way home from the gym and I could tell from this guys driving that he wanted to race me. I got into the left lane him in the right. Went from a dead stop, I got him out of the hole and had about 2 truck lengths on him until about 50, then he passed me and slowed down at about 60. The second time, I was slow to react, but I stuck with him until about 45-50. I didnt have my troyer tune in either. Im pretty excited that with my setup 4.6/3:55's/33" tires that I actually kept up. Thought I would share the story.

i havent raced anybody like your in story, and congratulations on your trucks performance. i've just got a quick question. I KNOW my truck wouldnt' be able to take off like the way you described your truck did. I've got the 4.6 wil 3.55ls and 33's also. I've also got the intake and troyer tune XCAL2. its been pretty much between 20-30 degrees here in buffalo for a while - if it were warmer would my truck run a little better? I'm also using the 89 performance tune so i know that helps a little.
thanks for your response and help! i just want to be able to tell a story just like yours!!!!

yeh those hemi's dont really have much on the ford trucks till about 80mph when we fall on out faces. those hemi's build torque till lik 5100rpm and hp peaks at 5700 RPM. so they have no low ned most all top end. so from a dig we can get em easy. but form a roll they run pretty good.

I raced a hemi in the rain and it won. It won because I couldn't hook up for about 110 yards in a straight take off and he punched it and it barley broke em loose. So no they don't have any no low end at all. For the record he was pretty impressed with the burn out.

I traded my 03 Hemi QC 2wd in July for a 05 FX4 supercrew ... Mainly did this because the wife hated the rough ride on the 20's. But what you say is pretty true.. taking off the Hemi didnt feel near 345hp.. even after hypertech, intake & exhaust mods... The Ford even being a 4wd feels much better off the line & around town in traffic... That torque management cpu on the dodge was holding it way back....

Now at hwy speeds when I need to pass I miss the Hemi... 65-100 in a flash... Then again I need my truck to haul my CRF450 & jet ski's... when i feel the need for speed I pull out da Goat ....

I know if I could have had 4:56's in my truck like I'd like to I would have really got off the line... Not to mention I didnt have my tune in, my tranny is shifting really hard with it in... He didnt spin off the line either, I could feel some wheel hop in my truck for a few ft.

John, to answer your question, no it won't run better in warmer temps. Colder air is denser and therefore provides for more complete combustion. Hence the reason us supercharged guys add air to air and liquid to air intercoolers. The colder the air you can get into your engine, the better it will perform.

As for a list of beaten, battered, and abused opponents, my favorite was a Dodge Dakota 5.9 SRT that could hang with 8000#'s of pure supercharged glory!
