Cool Silver_2000, Moonshine, & Sixpipe's dyno runs

Doug is in Europe for three weeks and I won't be back home until Thursday night. Just figured I'd post this before I left town. Moonshine will explain.

Cool

Great run guys, 349 rwhp is easy 400+ hp at the flywheel. Can you all list your mods so we can know what to expect if we buy similar bolt ons. Silver 2000, is this run with or without the Sal's Chip? Thanks

Question

sixpipes,

Would you attribute your higher horse power over the others to your JBA's?
Or have you added any other mods recently?

Moonshine & Silver_2000 are bone stock 2000s. My mods are listed below. Take into consideration the gear ratio I am running compared to stock (3.73s & 17" wheels). I am at a higher RPM than either stock truck at the same speed so the numbers are skewed in my favor somewhat. The big difference is the Superchip and to a lesser extent the filter and headers. Although the peak horsepower numbers are relatively close to stock numbers, the horsepower gap which appears especially in overdrive is significant (40+). Interesting that my maximum horsepower was created at about 97mph in 3rd gear. This is exactly where I want it because my terminal speeds in the 1/4 are 102-103mph. If I had stock gearing, I would not reach my maximum horsepower peak until after I would have crossed the 1/4 mile mark.

I will be picking my 00 L in June/July and ironically, I am planing on making almost all the same mods as you have. Already have the headers and hood ordered, still have not decided on what chip or airfilter to get. I am also talking with Wyldman about some nitros.
Whatever happened to everyone's claim of 25 hp gains for the chip, JBA claims 30 hp with there headers, and depending on what filter you get, they claim another 15-20 hp. Just goes to show that claims are onething, but actual gains are another!! Still, everylittle bit counts, 10 hp hear and 10 hp there, and pretty soon your talking real, noticable gains!! Thanks for your help. By the way, your truck looks awesome!!

As Sixpipes said mine is bone stock except replacement KN filter, which you can see does NOTHING for HP. I wish we could have gotten Torque numbers.

Here is a cleaner view, I think crossing the international dateline cleans up the data

Now I am totally confused. On the 1st graph, sixpipes had the most rwhp, but the second graph, which depicts adjusted hp (am assuming that is adjusted to reflect flywheel hp?) Doug appears to have the advantage, whats up????

Doug is being funny. The "adjusted HP" is adjusted for crossing international dateline, which appears to have given him about 50 HP. The real graph is the one Sixpipes posted. Doug, methinks maybe you know just a tad too much about how to play with computer stuff. I should have known when you took the disk.

WalkerJ, I have a PSP filter on order, but don't expect to see much, if anything, with the filter alone. As soon as I have some extra toy money I'm ordering a PSP chip, and will definitely dyno again after I've made those mods. If you'd like me to speed up my research I can accept contributions in the name of L. science. Sixpipes' peak HP is not that much greater than stock, given the mods he's made, but what is impressive is that he stays much closer to peak HP for much longer periods of time. Notice the way that Doug's and my power drops drastically after each shift. Sixpipes dropoff is much less, so he carries more HP and speed through each gear.

Moonshine

That is the Brussels correction factor. The beer is stronger and the HP is higher over here. Actually I just had some fun with Excel. The point being that this is all fun and dont get too bent about what some jerk ( Me ) posts on the internet it is all lies. I sent the link to a guy that I work with that has a Audi S4 I think he is hiding under his desk now

Cool

Hey Doug,

Touching up the dyno results is a lot cheaper than doing the mods. I like it.

Cell c4=c4+50, fill down , refresh chart. Done Then just use photo shop to doctor time slip and the ruse is comlete. I think next week my L will be making 575 RWHP..... c4=c4+250......

You cant blame me for getting impatient waiting on Sals silver bullets.....

Doug, I wasn't bent that you were playing in Excel. I was just a little bent that your truck had the highest "adjusted" HP instead of miine. JK. Hope the Brussels beer is good. If you decide to stay, can I have your L?

All

I as you can see by the new chart above I have made even more Mods, I am now running, a 300hp shot of Nitrous, 4.11 gears, a Nitrogen cooled Cray Supercomputer for a chip, and Liquid oxygen as fuel.

Moonshine, I am driving a co-workers Diesel Opel Vectra 5 speed.

I am sensing a potentially fatal lack of Torque..... I wont be staying. The weather is too rainy and grey. I am counting the days until I can drive my L and understand the road Signs.
