Oil pan gasket change on a 93 5.0
Hi guys I have a 93 f-150 2wd supercab 5.0 and my oil pan is leaking some it always has and I was wondering how hard it would be to change the gasket there is a crossmember right there so I think I have to pull the engine witch I'd hate to do so if there are any shortcuts let me know thanks

ironically my oil pan gasket just blew out on my 351 on my way home last night and was goin to ask the same question, im pretty sure its possible i was just wondering how hard it was going to be, and my truck is on 37s so i can pretty much walk under it so that part isnt to hard for me haha

Your's has the crossmember there too? I think I can do it pretty easy by just undoing it all and dropping the pan to the crossmember I will have about 4 inches of clearance that should be enough to slip the lil thing in there right? mines been leaking for ever my dad told me I need new valve cover gaskets wich is nothing at all to do it's easy that way and then an oil pan gaskget

It's not that easy. You need to remove the exhaust Y-pipe,unbolt the motor mounts from the engine, remove the fan so it doesn't hit the shroud when you jack the engine up.Then after you unbolt the oil pan it still won't clear the oil pump/pick up tube. With the oil pan hanging you must remove the bolts holding the pump/pick up tube in place then drop pump and p/u tube in the pan and remove the pan.

Since when does the oil pan and transfer case ever come close to eachother? Unless something has changed, you aren't getting the pan out without jacking up the engine.

You don't have to take the pan out. The 93 has a one piece gasket from the factory. With the pan laying inside the crossmember, you can "peel" the old gasket out from around the pan, then install the new one piece gasket in the reverse manner. I can replace one inside of an hour (with my lift, of course).
