1994 5.8 Specs

There was thread on here saying the a '93 5.0 Had 205 Horsepower. Now, i've read that the '94 5.8 Had 200 hp...How does that make sense? No WAY the motors are that close, especially since the 5.8 Makes 310 Horses! Anyone know the actual specs for this???

I think it was 225hp but like 310-325tq. Either way it's not much. The 351W makes more torque which is more important than 10hp at the flywheel.

Their ratings I forgot were also dependant on what trans you had supposedly so don't expect a lot.

A rwhp dyno will tell you the truth.

Cool

If I remember correctly, the difference in HP wasn't much but the TQ was like 30 or so different between the two motors. I'll check my brouchure once I get back home.

Cool

From the 1994 Ford f-150 brochure, it states:

5.0L - 9.0 Compression Ratio, 205 HP@4000 rpm & 275 TQ@3000 rpm with Manual Transmission (Probably around 195 HP with automatic)

5.8L - 8.8 Compression Ratio, 210 HP@3600 rpm & 325 TQ@2800 rpm with Automatic Transmission

Then just to add some fun to this, 1994 Ford F-150 with a 306 (new in June '03) with about 15,000 kms on it and with the below equipment pulled about 173 HP and 238 TQ on a dyno while running very lean. Haven't been back after the re-burn on the chip to fix my lean problem but I expect probably around 180 HP anyhow and that is at the rear wheels not the flywheel like the brochure states !!!

Just in case anyone is interested, here are the specs for the speed density, hydraulic camshaft 302's...

185 peak hp @ 3800 rpm
270 peak tq @ 2400 rpm

These are applicable to the '87-'92(3) I believe 302's.

So we're talking about a 10hp diff between them in all actuality between them on the 302s... I asked around on my local gearhead Ford boards and they think that the power difference may only be due to the change from flat tappets -> hyd rollers that equate to more power due to frictional losses.

That would be my guess. Actually, I just assumed that was the reason for the extra 10 hp which is why I meant to specify hydraulic flat tappet camshaft as opposed to hydraulic roller camshaft.

94 F150 Brochure

Where can I order/find a copy of the brochure ??? My boyfriend collects them for every vehicle he's owned (his bronco, work van, etc) and I'd really really like to complete his set for his birthday!!

The 5,8 is much more air restricted due to the extra cubes
