Roof Light Cage & Custom Installation On Roof Rack.

About 3 weeks ago I ordered a Defender roof rack and roof light cage which I received on Friday but with missing parts. The sales person at the store I ordered the mechanize informed me that they were out of stock on the roof rack brackets and I would have to wait 3 more weeks to get them. I said please cancel the bracket order and give a refund, I'll make my own bracket. No problem, they canceled the order.

So I started my Saturday, Feb. 26, removing the cheesy light bar I had installed over a year ago.

I purchased 3 of these 2x2 fencing material at the home depot.

Then cut it to length.

I then set it on my truck's roof and traced the arch.

Then cut out the material so I could fit it on the truck's roof.

Then tried it to see how it would fit.

With some minor adjustments I was able to make it fit right.

I then used it as the master sample to modify the other two.

Traced it......

and after modifying them all I painted it with the bedliner feces.

Then got them ready to install

And secured both the bracket and roof rack in place.

I finally claimed success at about 6:30 pm.

It was a lil too dark to take a picture of the finish product, so I had to wait for a clear day this morning to take nicer pictures.

This concludes all I'll add/replace on the truck for now, time to go have fun with it next week.

Oh yeah, I also changed the direction of the second row of lights, they will now be used to light up behind the truck when I'm backing up.

Thanks but

Funny, had a couple of my friends friend said they'd prefer marring my truck than their GFs.

The vinyl is starting to peel off, thought when I get to redo the graphics next year I'll strip it down then.

sooooo that looks freakin awesome! question though: howd ya mount it to the roof? just self tapping screws or what? pics?

Im thinking about getting this one:
http://www.defenderracks.com/products.asp?id=101

and they can include the mounting hardware...but not really sure what all would be involved in that..
