Clear Coat, no need to wax.
So, i do my spring detail on my truck. Wash, clay, compound, cleaner wax. then i top it off with collinite 845. So it is looking nice and ready for the summer. Anyhow i had to take some table's to the in laws for a garage sale. Father in law ask's if i put some polish on the truck? yeh i tell him that i waxed it and left it at that. So he say's to me, it has clear coat so you don't need to wax it. He proudly state's that his f-150( which is an '08) has never been waxed. Say's that it dosn't need to wax it since it has clear coat.

Yes... clear coat is paint. We know this. I just absolutely refuse to get in a debate about this though....
To the OP: I'd highly recommend taking care of your paint in the methodology that you've followed. While 'clear coat is paint', paint requires maintenance to assist in prevention of oxidation and harm from other environmental elements. While one would not 'have' to take care of their clear coat, for long term results and overall protection for your paint.
Let me put it this way.... if you were sleeping around with a bunch of women, spermicide may kill the 'boys' and keep her from becoming impregnated.... wrapping it up with a product from the folks from Trojan can help you prevent getting the clap or herpes and stop the aforementioned (in most cases)...
Please note, I am not a doctor but, I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night.
Clear?
