Angry Overspray from staining a fence!

Truck got COVERED in stain. Neighbors were staining the fence on a windy day and got stain all over the front of the BigFord. Hood, fenders, wheels.

I'm pissed.

What is the easiest way to get it off? I checked with local detailers, but most of them look like parolees or meth freaks. I would prefer an in house cure. Whatcha got?

your best bet is to wash the car then clay it.

If clay won't get it all, you may have to finish it up with lacquer thinner.

I dont have pics. Imagine a big red truck with the measles. I tried some lacquer thinner, but was afraid of damaging the paint. Will it?

I'll give the clay bar a try if the damn rain stops.

Lacquer thinner shouldn't cause any problems, but if you are apprehensive, try Meguiars Body Solvent as already said. It does a great job removing road tar.

Man that sucks! i know you want to do it your self but i would take it to a good body shop and have them do it and have the neighbor pay for it, i know the body shops around here do that kind of stuff. Hope it goes well

I would try mineral spirits before laquer thinner. It's much less aggressive and should do the same job.

take it to a shop and get it done right. If you tinker with it the neighbour would be absolved of anything you wreck on your truck.

Take it to get it fixed and get them to pay.

Agree 100%. I wouldn't touch it myself.

Reputable body shops should be able to steer you toward a good detailer, or perform the work themselves. Get a couple estimates, and have the neighbor submit to his homeowner's insurance. If he wants to cover it himself, get the payment up front from him (the check can be in the name of the detailer if he wants), and then get it done.
