Clay Bar Question?

Does a clay bar remove all the wax that is on top of the paint? I bought a Megs clay bar kit this weekend and as I was using it, I noticed a lot of yellow wax looking stuff coming off. When I finished each spot, I put on some Megs cleaner wax followed by Megs caranuba. I was just wondering if the clay takes it all the way down to the clear or if it leaves some wax behind. I am a newbie to the detailing world, so please excuse my basic questions. Thanks!

Clay bar is designed to take all the contaminents out of the clear coat not the wax, thats why if you take your hand over your car after you wash it and before you wax it you can feel grit.

Clay removes all the contaminants above the paint surface including wax. After your done claying you should apply wax to protect your paint which others have already stated.

Ok, so 1/2 say clay does take off wax, 1/2 says no. So, for the folks that say it doesn't take wax off (I have no idea), what DOES take old wax off? I am curious as well.

I think dish detergent does and I am pretty sure it strips wax. Each time you clay I believe if I am not mistaken, you remove a tiny tiny amount of clear coat. Wax goes on top of the clear coat, so yeah I'd say it would strip wax.

Claying removes some to all of the wax, depending on how long you work an area, pressure, amount of wax present, etc.

ALWAYS reprotect your finish after using a clay bar.
