Truck running bad...
Hi all!
My truck has been running bad for a few weeks now, but has not given any codes until last night.
I am getting a P0430 code...System catalyst?
Any ideas of what may be causing the code. I have not cleared it yet.
2005 F150 Supercrew Lariat, 5.4l, 116K miles
Fuel injector perhaps?
Regards!

Thanks for all of the replies...
I have maintained it the best that I can afford...
Oil changes every 5-6k miles, plugs were changed at 80K when passenger side head and catalytic converter fried due to faulty injector (thats what I think). One injector was replaced then. Repair was covered under esp warranty with $ 100.00 deductable. I didn't have code scanner then so I don't know what codes were thrown.
One COP was replaced about 2k ago #3 Cylinder
Fuel filter about 10k ago, Cleaned MAF and Air Filter at same time.
Does P0430 refer to the cat. From what I can tell thats bank 2? Is that considered drivers side or passenger side?
Regards?

Thank you again for all of the replies!
Just smogged in August! I don't need another smog check until 2013 lol!
The last Cat was $ 2k..
I guess what I am trying to figure out is if it is a bad injector that caused the cat to fail. I really hate to go (and can't afford to go) to the dealer. Since the injectors are under warranty for another 3,900 miles it would be nice for ford to have to cover this one...
Any chance the truck will catch on fire?
Regards!

Well I paid $ 100 of that $ 2k...the cost of the last repair was over $ 7k with the head, cat, miscellaneous timing parts, and fuel injector. The service guy showed me the bill. Fortunately it was all covered under warranty.
I also talked them into the plug change which they did under warranty. They wanted to put the old plugs into the new head?
I am unfortunately in California...I have been looking for aftermarket cats, and there isn't any to be found for CA. The Ford cat is $ 1800...
I cleared the code this evening. I want to see if it comes back.
Regards!

So a week has gone by since clearing the code...no code yet...
Just for giggles, I went to our local Midas to see how much a new cat would be...they can't sell cats. They can't even have one on the shelf due to California Air Resource Board regulations. They indicate its a dealer only item only. They even called their distributor while I was there...no cats for California F150's.
Truck still runs kinda crappy, but it still runs...
