Trans temp sender location (4R70W)

I have read over several threads on where to put the sender for the trans temp. It seems the overall location has been in the trans cooler line going into the radiator. I have also read to put it in the port on the side of the trans. Just wondering what would give the best readings so that I'm getting good temp numbers. Just curious as I recently bought a newer and bigger boat and tow it with overdrive off. I also just had 4.10 gears installed to help with the pull. It currently turns about 2600 rpm at 60 mph. Just want to make sure I'm not tearing anything up. Thanks for the response.

What size tires and year truck? Also Just try to stay around 180 degrees and I installed mine in the pan with a bung. It has to be welded to the pan but not a bad project.

Sorry, it's an 01' Screw with the 5.4L. The tire size is 275/55/20. Thanks for the info.

I like the sender in the test port. It gives temp readings within a few degrees of the pan, sometimes higher, sometimes lower, but always close.

Ideally you would be able to monitor it from a couple locations. Since I deal a lot with performance stuff, I like to see the temp of the fluid coming out of the transmission.
