2001 screw whine
2001 screw whine
I read 115 returns for my search on Transmission Whine.
I have a 2001 5.4 2 wheel drive f150 w/ 80K miles.
The dealer replaced a solenoid pack and torque converted at 32K miles.
Fluid and filter changed again at 60K.
Yesterday it started whining when it went into 4th gear - not slipping (that I could tell/feel). I drove 2 miles home after it started acting up. Fluid is full - doesn't smell, is clear as new.
Before I go for a rebuild - I am going to check for restricted filter(s) pan and the in-line one the dealer put on at 32K. Of course if I see a bunch of trash in the pan - I'll button it up and start looking for a good reapir shop.
Is there anything else I should do while looking around?
Thanks in advance,
Brad
