Lenny, I'm sure I speak for others on this forum when I want to know how things go with your export/import of the Expy to the UK.
Let us know how it goes, ok?
Last bit of intelligence was that it was to be containerized and fluids did not have to be drained. Still true?
What is the expected ETA in the Motherland?
Do you get to drive it from the dock, or does it go into "quarantine"?
I shall miss the "Quaint little drinking town with a fishing problem" that was in your sig so often.

Just because I don't own a house in the States doesn't mean I'm going to stop causing aggravation !! (Or turn up on your shores occasionally...homeland security willing !!)
The Expy was left at the warehouse in Houston last Wednesday and hopefully by now is containerised.
As far as I know the fluids were not drained except for fuel, which was really annoying having recently filled up at a cost of 80 bucks.
Then it has to be refueled over here to the brim for the SVA test. (Special Vehicle Approval)
Did you know by the way that not only is our gallon a different size to yours but the fuel qualities are different, hence can't do emission test on your fuel.
It will be about 3 weeks in transit then it has to go for SVA which takes another couple of weeks....Change colour of rear lights etc and licence and register for uise over here.
I'll up load a few photos to show how 'stuffed' it was !

Expy looking lonely waiting for its container....
There were about 300 vehicles around the warehouse ranging from Porches, to Bentley, to Shelby Mustangs, to a variety of wrecked cars which go to the middle east where it is cheaper to repair them !!!

I knew the imperial gallon was different than our "American" gallon, so I looked it up. It's about 1.201 US gallons according to Wikipedia.
Interesting about the fuel quality. I wonder if the PCM in the Expy will burn it properly or if a custom tuned programmer could alter things enough to use the British fuel right.
What has to be done to the taillight color?

Its quite a complicated business and to be honest I'm not sure of all that has to be done.
Certainly the rear lights need to be amber instead of red, but if you are really bored then try this !!!

Because the UK is actually the land of my birth and my full time home !
It's just that I've been such a regular visitor to your shores for nearly 30 years, and have owned houses, cars, boats there, that in many ways I feel part dual nationality....except homeland security wouldn't like that.

I feel certain that you're on several Homeland Security 'watchdog' lists, John.
I mean, you are a pilot, right? You seem threatening, right? You weild a dictionary and carry an uncommon knowledge of geological and meteorological aspects, right? You must be a terrorist.
Seriously though... I hate to hear of a more permanent re-re-re-relocation back to that side of the pond but, I certainly understand. I hope all goes well with the Expy. I wasn't going to mention it but, I've read of a few horror stories in shipping vehicles.

Not to mention that he's shipping a vehicle, unaccompanied, full of "fluids" of questionable nature, into a "foreign" land!

I don't think you'll need to derail it at all, Shine. Looks to me like the tracks are already pretty "bent", much like most all the threads in this forum.
