Hey I am a freindly guy
That post was up for four hours with zero response. I would understand that better if it were not for the amount of traffic this forum gets. Seems like about maybe five people on here actually know anything or try to help people with questions. The rest is all "MY truck this" " I did *** to my truck what do you think?" "Can I put 60 inch tires on a brand new truck"
Any way this thread had potential. The timing cover has a allen head bolt hidden up under the bottom ear, and I am CERTAIN there are plenty of them that get broke. I surely not going to make any friends in the 4.2 area anyway other than offering help, because I think this motor was made up like a GM fine fashion engineered piece of doggie doo, I am amazed Ford actually made this engine and didnt import it from some South American third world country.
Sorry guys..just my opinion, those of you that had good luck with those, more power to you.
But.. even with all that said, my history is every time I say something like that about any product ....I wind up getting one at a deal somehow and learn to love them.

lmao ..bump
oil pump made onto timing cover, so oil pressure has to pass thru two ways, thru timing cover/block mating surface.. come on now. Are the newer 4.2 made that way?
That is like Ford said to its engineers, "we need a V6 to compete with GM and DC, you have two weeks...." They should have kept the 4.9 alive.
hahaha, why didnt they just use a band saw and cut the 351M down to 6 poppers, like the others did.. lol

That is so true what you typed.I read that and laughed and am still laughing!
How about this one;"I just got a (type in year) and want to add a CAI to improve my horsepower to make my truck run in the low 6s..."

Yes you would be, I am sure there are more than five. I exagerated a tinch to make the point,
This is a great truck community, I enjoy it.
Learning about this motor was my intention, so far so good
I just came back from a two lane road trip in my truck, 4.6, and it was a learning experience. On hills the truck sounded like an 80's F800 w/ a 370 motor, it was aweful. I dont think I will keep this truck long, and may look at some 4.2 trucks or an Explorer.
