36gal tank here in my CrewCab. Recent trip from NW Indiana to Florida only had to stop once in Georgia to refuel. Avg 20.3 at 80mph got about 680 miles before I felt I needed to find a gas station.

I made the mistake of getting the standard tank and I tow a lot - feel like I'm constantly stopping for gas when getting 12 MPG with a 23 gallon tank. I'd highly recommend getting the larger tank.

I have the bigger tank. I just bought the truck Friday. Drove it around and went on a short road trip last night. With the broke in 3.5 I traded in I wold be limiting my driving the next couple days due to almost being out of gas, but I still have over 1/2 tank on this one. I hope I can keep my head and remember it's going to be expensive to fill it up. Out the box the truck estimated almost 600 miles to empty. Since it is based on the calculated fuel economy, it has gone up since then. 600-700 miles per tank seems reasonable. If I drive like Miss Daisy I think closer to and maybe if I time by drive to go with the wind higher than 700 is doable.

You can actually save a few pennies because you can seek out fuel stations that are cheap.

That is one of the main reasons I like the bigger tank. I have 2 different stations, one close to the house and the other on my route. At $0.30/gallon difference for 30 gallons (typical fill up) is a savings of $9 twice a week. Saves me about $700/year which more than pays for the larger tank. Keep the truck for about 4 years so the savings can be impressive. Plus you can pick your fuel stops on trips/towing.

personally, I had 1 ordered for my 2016 but for the cost and bladder I opted for the stock tank. I don't mind stopping for a walkaround and relief.
imo

I don't know what's wrong with me but after about 2000 miles on my V8 supercrew my gas tank at fill up still says 800+ miles till empty and I'm still averaging 21.4 mpg. I checked one gas fill-up (it's wasn't actually a fill-up just half) and my calculated (by hand) mpg was 21.3. A second time 21.4.

love my xtra large fuel tank one of the reasons I picked this truck. I bought off the lot there were three that were similar. I didn't really want black but it had the bigger tank and trailer brake controller. actually the first trip i took it was saying i was getting 25mpg at one point (2.7l) after the fill up the range was saying 840 miles to empty

What engine?

I got 19.6 for the entire trip (2600 miles, combined city/highway, but mostly highway) for my recent Tampa, FL to Frederick, MD trip, and 21.7 on my last tank (100% highway). Loaded up with a bed full of crap, 2 big adults and 2 kids. 5.0 3.31 4x2 supercrew xlt with 6.5' bed 157" wheelbase, and topper.

I also took a trip to the mountains of North Carolina 1550 miles, 19.8 for the entire trip (including a bunch of mountain driving), and 21.1 for the last tank.

I have my cruise control set for 83mph most of the time. Although admittedly sometimes I may be up to 90mph.

I just have the regular fuel tank, wish it was still 27 gallons like the previous gen. I also wish I could have gotten the 36 gallon tank, but there were none available when I bought mine.
