Question Suggestions on purchasing a 2015 F150 with D plan, more inside

Hey everyone.

So I've been around many years and come from Lear Corporation, which were a huge Ford supplier. Bought many cars/trucks and the last one was a 2005 Lariat with a 5.4L that I bought for my old man back then.

Anyways, I can get a D plan code from the old man and saw an F-150 I liked. VIN is 1FTEW1EP3FKE70990.

Invoice MSRP shows 47295 + 62.79 fuel charge + 692 advertisement assessment. The dealer holdback is somewhere around 1295 (should I just post the printout?)

Anyways, the D plan is 41755. When the dealer printed the finance options and rebates (which BTW, fomoco offers 0 APR for 60 months and no rebates), the rebates for financing outside FOMOCO was 4800 bucks.

Here's my question. I thought D Plan was the D plan price plus all rebates, which would make the truck 36955 plus TTL. However, when the dealer printed his sheet (PO, or estimate, or whatever) the cost came out to 42K out the door.

So what am I missing guys?

Is this truck a good price? If you dont care to decode the VIN, its an:
XLT,
FX4 Texas Edition Screw
2.7L
302A
two tone paint,
center console,
trailer tow package (6500 GVWR)
3.55 electronic locking rear diff

Appreciate you guys' ideas/suggestions/comments.

EDIT: does it having sync 3 and siriusXM mean it has satnav?

D-plan is Invoice (not MSRP) - Holdback - Advertising Fee + $275 program fee + $100 - rebates + doc fee not to exceed $100 + TT&L.

Get the dealer to show you his invoice, it will have A, Z, X, and D plan prices printed on it.
Add the doc fee, TT&L, and subtract rebates.

The dealer is supposed to show you the sheet with the PIN plan prices when you say you are a member. I set up an appointment with the fleet manager (figured they are more experienced in truck order matters) and had the prices in front of me in no time without providing a plan PIN #. You just need it when you ink the contract. It's a pretty cut and dried way to buy ....just have to decline the other BS on your way out the door.
Yes you get the rebates too.

Yes, just post the printout because this is not making any sense.

This is a 2015 and will not have Sync 3. You got MyFord Touch. Only 2016s have Sync 3 available - look for a 2016 with Sync 3 if you need that.

This truck has satellite radio. You won't have nav unless it says navigation.

Hey guys,

thanks for the replies. So I went back and figured it out. They were adding the holdback back to the purchase price, along a 200 visual package (dealer installed) and some other BS fee.

When I asked the guys "hey, D plan is supposed to discount the holdback, and I dont want that visual package. What is that anyways?"

"oh well bu...but....but"

Thats when I walked away. Im looking at another truck now, at a different dealer.

Seems like they're not moving trucks at all. One dealer has a stock of over 300, and another one around 200 which is eye-opening because I live in a very small market in Texas.

Thanks y'all

Although not D using plan, I started looking at replacing my 2011. One thing I noticed was a lot of the supercabs have been sitting a few months. One I am interested in has a build date of February another in January, unfortunately the February one had been sitting for so long that the battery was dead. To move those they might be willing to give more in trade.

I went to another dealership where the salesmen smugly pointed out that, "There is no negotiation with X-plan." I simply replied, "No, but there is negotiation on my trade in." The floor manager at that same dealership said I couldn't get a seat warmer in an XLT. I advised him that according to Ford's website the seat warmers are included in the XLT 302a package and they should know what they put in their trucks. He stuttered and started flubbing.

He also made the mistake of asking what I needed to get into a truck today, so I told him. Since I'm not quite ready to buy, I told him give me an even trade and I'll leave with a new truck. He was not happy. I simply said you asked. Just for the record I don't buy from the dealership where I was beating down the employees. They have the slicker than thou mindset and their customer service is crap, not too mention after introducing myself and shaking the hand of a previous salesman he still got my name very wrong (he used a mildly derogatory nickname used for teasing as a child). They have this fishbowl thing in the middle of the showroom floor. If a salesman brings you in, everyone in the fishbowl looks at you like you're their next meal.

Seriously, the whole dealership network and the stupid, obsolete laws that protect them need to go. Its an abomination and I dread walking in and window shop. The whole ordeal is a hassle and you end up wasting 3 hours of your day.

I'll probably wont end up getting the truck I was looking at at the first post, and will look somewhere else. I know they're hurting and now that ford announced x-plan for everyone, they'll still come down on price.

yup, for better or for worse (pickins get thin) I always wait until Feb/Mar to buy the previous year. There dying to move them, and I feel like I get the best deal. Yes, its a year older already, but that doesn't mean as much to me as saving 15k.

For better or worse... Here is my D-Plan Deal

(I chose to use my own financing instead of Ford and the 0% since I had such a low rate and the rebates more than made up for the interest charged over the life of the loan)

I ordered a 2015 XLT SCREW 5.0L / 302a / Sport Pkg / 20" Wheels / Trailer package / 36 gal Tank / 3.55 EL

MSRP: 47,445 - 2,000 (XLT Sport Disc) = 45,445

Invoice: 42,066.32 (Holdback is 1,328)
D-Plan: 40,449.32 (I work at a sister dealership)

Total Under Invoice: $1,617 (before any Discounts, Coupons, Rebates or Incentive)

My price is 40,449.32 - $4k in rebates = 36,449.32 (+ 300 SC Sales tax + $45 Tag/Reg)

Out the Door: 36,794.32

Thats pretty good. I am enamored with the 2.7, has just enough pull to haul my fatass and a couple of guys at work. Hopefully they'll still be around in 3-4 months. I would price mine exactly like yours with the exception of the 2.7.

Also, 300 sales tax?! WTF?!

Here in TX is 6.25%, its around 2300-2500
