I am taking my new truck to get a leveling kit put on friday. A local shop will do it for $230 plus tax. I thought that was pretty reasonable, especially since it keeps me from having to fiddle with a coil spring compressor.

 

What kit did you get...

I put my AS front level kit on in about an hour!!
And about another hour for the rear blocks...

I didn't need a spring compressor...
Just 3 bolts on the top of the mount and the lower ball joint nut...

Drop the spindle and she out!!

I believe they are going to us the skyjacker kit. I tried to put a kit on my 02 Explorer before I decided to trade it for this truck and it was almost impossible to get the strut back in.

 

$230 is an okay price if it includes the price of the leveling kit.

if that is ontop of the cost of the leveling kit...walk away IMO

 

That includes the kit and the installation. If that were labor only I would have balked.

 

This is just my opinion, I would install shocks also or get the Bilstein 5100 leveling shocks. The stock shocks are junk.

 

I may do that too as finances allow.

 

Your better off doing it now even if you have to through it on a credit card. Why pay twice.

I have plenty of debt already.... The leveling kit is really all I can afford right now. Bigger tires and other goodies will have to wait a bit.

 

dont forget you need an alighnment, trust me i said f#uck it( drove like 10k) and then my tires started to whar funny so get it done as soon as you can

 

I'm not the only one then...only did 1,000 to 2,000 miles though. and they were starting to show the weird wear

 

Thanks for the heads up on the alignment. Of course if the generals wear out quicker I have an excuse to get some 305s.....

 

A set of Monro shocks wont break anyones bank and the way I see it since the coil overs are coming apart already it will be a direct replacement. So if he does it now he won`t have to pay someone to do the same exact thing in a few months. Just trying to help.
