Question about keyless entry

I just bought an 04 F150 and it only came with a key, no remote, and they didnt know the code for the door, so my question is, is there a way to get the door code and to get a remote for the keyless entry stuff? How much do you think it is gonna run me?

If you don't have 2 programmed keys you will have to go through the dealership to get remotes programmed and get your keypad code.

here you go..(for the keypad)
https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...ess+entry+code

a new key (since you only have one) could cost you around $100 -for the key, and having it programmed to your truck... the remotes shouldn't be that expensive, but again, they need to be programmed to the truck

At stealership rates you are looking at more than $100.00. If you want to save some money buy the key and remote off ebay and only pay the stealership to cut and program them.

If your truck is an 04 it has the Passive Anti-Theft System in it and the key has a coded transponder embedded in it.

If you have owners manual, read the procedure on programming the keys. They are indeed special and when you have two keys you can program additional keys, but with only one a dealer must do it. Usually the keys are available on ebay and sometimes the remotes, but wherever you get them you will need to go to the dealer.

Ok, so if its gonna cost over a hundered dollars for all that codded keys, and remotes and programming crap from ford. Would it be better to get on of those alarm/remote entry/remote start kits that i see for like 150? Would that cause a system proplem with the current stock alarm on the truck?

well, for the remote start, you have to bypass the PATS system, which requires a key... my second key is in the remote start box thing under my dash- you need 2 keys

My key looks like that, but the ford emblem is blue and it doesnt have that dot in the metal.

So if I get another $100 key, then buy the $150 kit. I will have remote start, remote entry, and alarm?

Whats the PATS system?
