Replacing Flowmaster with Magnaflow

Hey guys, I recently had a custom dual exhaust setup installed with a flowmaster 3"SI 2.5"DO 40 series. The flowmaster just vibrates way too much for me, I can nearly feel it in the floorboards and it honestly feels like I lost some low end power. Also the flowmaster produced more like a high pitch hum rather than the rumble I was looking for. Ive decided to go with a magnaflow to replace it. I purchased a new 3"SI 2.5"DO Magnaflow 14" 5x8 muffler for $57 to be installed. Anyone running this muffler with a similiar setup? Advice/opinions would be great. Im hoping to regain any lost power and stop the exhaust vibrations and am hoping this will accomplish that. Thx

Ronnie

I trashed my magnaflow and Flowmaster and settled with Billy Boat exhaust system, much more agressive tone and didn't seem like any loss of power like with magnaflow or flowmaster. I have 3-1/2" tips exiting out the passanger side. My only complaint is expect to drop down every bit of $800-$1000 for the whole system(cat-back).

I got the Magnaflow aluminized muffler 4" by 9" by 14" Body, 2-1/2" O/O (part#11236) and love it, good rumble at idle, nice roar at WOT and most importantly IMO no drone at cruising speed

Mines the SI/SO so it’s not exactly the same as yours but it is the 14” long body though.

Sorry to hear that, should have gone with the Super 40 Delta Flow to begin with, you would have been happy....Its very low and there literally no resonance and quiet while cruising....Goodluck with the magnaflow, a good exhaust company nonetheless, just hate see people convert to the dark side

I went through your same problem! I had the flowmaster which sucked in my opinion, I felt loss of low end torque and the sound was'nt what i was looking for.

I then installed the magnaflow 5x8x14 3"si/2.5"do and could'nt be happier. It has a nice sound under accel and idle but not loud on the highway. Also feels like I got torque back.

Hope this helps

Yeah that does help, its exactly what I did! I just got the truck back from installing the magnaflow magnaflow 5x8x14 3"si/2.5"do and it doesnt vibrate at all at idle like the flowmaster did. Also its got a very deep tone at idle which is much more quiet. At WOT it has a much more deeper powerful tone rather than a higher pitch scream. Thats the sound I wanted from the start, and not compromise interior noise/vibrations.

I had flowmasters installed on my 93 Lightning(true duals from factory) and it was very quiet but sounded good. I figured Id try the flowmaster again on my 05 but it produced very different results. Different engines, different tones I guess, the older 302/351 W engines sound the best in my opinion. Makes me miss my old truck.

I tried flowmaster on my 98 and 02 lariats and removed them after about 2 weeks on each truck. The systems I had sounded like they were sucking air like a shop vac or something.

I tried the borla on my 04 and love it, the magnaflow is a great system too.

I have a Flow Master 40 series on my truck, and I have NOT lost any power.

But, mine is also a SI/SO muffler with stock piping and a 3.5" tip.

FLows better than stock, sounds better then stock, and still has backpressure to keep the low end torque.

I didnt see the point in duals. Lose power, louder... not for me.
