Hi there.....I've always had the stock spare under my truck...it's a 255/80/16. You're right this tire isn't the best to run with a 285/75/16 on the other side, but with the dual out the back that I have...its the biggest that will fit. Quit frankly.....I either get a new tire RIGHT AWAY, or switch it up with a front if Im in the boonies. Cheers!

My spare is a 265/70/17 & my tire's ae 285/70/17. As soon as I get a chance I'm gonna tell my tire guy to keep his eye's open for another 285/70/17 of any type(used) that I can use for a spare. I really don't want to spring for another new BFG AT.

I bought them at a local tire shop that sells alot of BFG's & truck tire's.

305/70 16's on 16X10's. Don't remember the back spacing on the wheel though. No rubbing. Minor trimming of front valance and torsion bars up all the way. Love them.

I am running 285/75/16 Bridgestone Dueler AT's and they are great. I also have a dual exhaust so I ended up mounting a fullsize spare in the bed with a flat Fabtech tire mount.

Just a thought on the spare. If you dont have a limited slip rear end, there's really no trouble running a stock tire to get you back to the tire shop. I don't know enough about the mechanics of a limited slip to tell you if that would be a prob. Worst case you could always change it to the front. I know its not a great situation, but beats having a big meat in your bed all the time.

I'm thinking of upping the tire size on my truck as well but have lots of concerns. My truck has the stock 265/70 R17 on it. I've heard lots about the 285/70 and 305/70 through some of the other posts, but haven't heard much about the 33x12.5 17. From what I've learned the 305 is 33.8" tall and the 285 is 32.6 right? Is the 33x12.5 just straight up 33"? My major concerns are the decrease in power due to changing the gear ratio, messing up the speedo and I don't want to have to put a lift or raise the torsion bars. What do you guys think of all this? Any input is good. Zyg, are you or did you have any power or speedo issues?

I don't know on the 33" x 12.5" but I have the 285/70/17 and they are great. I was told that the 285 is a 33" tall tire but I don't know how wide it is. The 285 rides great without rubbing and fills the wheel wells really good also. This info probably is no help but just thought I would throw it in there.

I have 285/70/17 BFG at/ko's. They measured 32.9".

I like them alot. I do have a 3.73 ratio so I don't know how the 265's are with power, but I did not notice any loss with my 3.73's.
I'm sure the speedo is off a little but not by much. I'm not going to mess with recalibrating it.

Sounds like the 285's are more like what I'm looking for as long as they're at least 12.5" wide. I also read about some problems with shift points when the speedo is off. Has anyone had any problems with there tranny shifting late once they upsized their tires and threw off their speedo? I'm thinking that if I go up on the tires that I might ought to go up on the gears to the 3.73. As long as it doesn't hurt the MPG to much. Josho66, how is the power and pickup on your truck since you upsized your tires?

Nice setup man. What's the offset on your wheels? They look sweet. Also, what did tightening the torsion bars do? Sorry for the dumn question.
