Brakes

I have 123,000kms on my F150 Supercab. I have noticed that in the morning, after rain or general dampness, that when I apply the brakes the truck tries to put me through the windshield. Is it cause of dirt build up in the drums?
Any help would be great
Thanks

This seems to be a pretty common problem with rear drum systems. When I lived in Florida, my '97 would do this almost every day in the summer, especially if it sat for more than a day (Florida summer = damp!). My solution was to lightly ride the brakes for 20 feet or so as I slowly took off to wear the rust off the drums/shoes.

My 97 Lariat also does this. I ride the brakes for a little bit to get the excess moisture off, and then they work fine.

what I do is lightly go on and off the brakes a few times as I leave the driveway, kinda like giving them a 'workout' before they need to go to work, and voi-la, no more head banging

I know this isn't very technical, but it works for me, I just about broke my nose a few times before I figured this one out....hahahaha
