2WD tires?

I know that the topic of tire sizes has been discussed on dozens of threads, but I cannot seem to get a firm answer for the question:What is the maximum tire size for stock rims (16x7?), no lift, '98 supercab?

Can I run 275-70-16? I had this size Michelin LTX m/s on my '97 4x4 Expy and swore I would not run anything else. Will they work on 2WD or do I have to go down to 265?

According to tirerack.com, the recommended rim width for those tires (in both 275 & 265 widths) is 8". The rim width RANGE listed is from 7" - 10" (275) or 7" - 8.5" (265).

You could probably shoehorn them on your rims, but I would imagine that you might see funky wear patterns, or experience strange driveability problems.

Good luck!
