Brake Dust

I have excessive brake dust from my front 2 tires. I cleaned the wheels, and after a 5 hour trip, the front wheels were covered in brake dust.....alsmost black. What would be some probable problems....or is this just a normal thing for the 1999 f-150's

Yes unfortunately the factory brakepads are pretty good dust makers. They have dust shields you can buy to place over the rotors and between the rim. They work. Also when you are do a brakejob replace the OEM pads with something like ceramic or Titanium. Personally I went to the Titanium and pads and LOVE em. No more dust and stops wayyyy better than factory pads.

I got mine from J.C. Whitney. I think they were like $35.00

I'd think any major car parts outlets would carry them. Mine are made by NJA Brake Products. Series ti22 according to thier paperwork.

Let me know if you can't find them and I'll link the J.C. Whitney site location if I can figure out how to.

For the shields, get those too from JC Whitney. You'll find they're from Kleen Wheels (http://www.kleenwheels.com/). They work really well, and look great.

g'luck!
