Chrome Dip Rims

I was thinking about having the rims on my 97' F-150 re-painted (slight rust along outer rim). But then a friend told me I should have them chrome dipped. Is this pretty expensive? Are there any places I could look at on the web? Or is it just not worth it and just go ahead and have them re-painted?

Researched this.

I have the stock 16s on my 99 F-150. I wanted chromed directional 18s. But, could not find new directionals that justified spending over 1,000 bucks, plus, considering that I wanted a 28.5 to 29 inch tall tire that was wide, a 17 inch rim is about as big as I am willing to go, since my side wall will be narrow enough.

AAA rims can chrome oem rims. I found several others as well. Can't remember names. But, on Yahoo, if you type in "Chrome wheels" or "Chrome oem wheels" the search results will show them to you. Some of these places require a core charge and some do not. Some will send you chromed oem rims just like yours and charge you a core charge until you send your rims in.

To have your own oem rims chromed, I found prices ranging from $89 to $150 per rim + shipping of 15 to 20 per rim. So you are looking at $400 to $600 total cost.

The best prices I found were at Victoria Tire (website) sells chromed oem wheels very cheap. I found the 17x7.5 inch F-150/expedition, "buzzsaw" directional rims that had been chromed for $139.00 per rim with no core charge or additional shipping of your rims! Total price for 4 chromed rims plus shipping for 1,500 miles was 556.00 + 86.87=$642.87!

AAA Rims wanted 130 for the standard wheel + 120 for chroming.
($250. per rim)

Victoria was the way to go as far as retail oem chrome price.

However, on Ebay Motors last SUnday, I was winning bid on 4 new/never mounted (12 mm stud) F150/Expediton OEM 17 x7.5 "buzzsaw" directional rims that had been triple chrome plated. I paid $390.00!

Now, I have to try to figure out a way to afford/trade for some sporttruck "V" rated, Pirelli Scorpion Zero 275/55/17s ............ha!
