Everytime...

I replaced my front brakes about 2 months ago with brake pads from Auto Zone and they gave me 2 small tubes of grease so they will stay quiet. I put them on the back of the pads and they were great, but every morning I start the truck up (98 F150) and the brakes squeak bad for the first couple of stops. Now at first I thought this could be b/c of the dampness, but I'd park it in a dry area for about 4 hours; come back and the same thing happens. etc etc.

I don't think it is hurting anything, but it sure is aggravating, especially since my friends have Chevy's and theres don't make any noise. Its just a loud squeaking noise, but eventually stops.

Is there some thing I can put on these babies so it will be silent.

It's usually the moisture in the air. So you can't go to a "dry place". I always buy a can of spray on anti-squeak. It seems to work better than the goop that they give you. You could try taking them off and spraying them to see if it helps.

My brakes squeel about 2 blocks on a cold morning. After that they are done for the day usually.

Which pads did you get? the Albany like $35 dollar units? If so, return them and get the $50 carbon metallic units. We installed the Albany pads in CJs 97 4x4 and were chasing noisy brakes for about 2 months. Swapped the pads once case the backing plates were just glued on and they would slid down and hit the hub of the rotor creating noise. After 2 months, we bit the bullitt, paid the difference for the carbon metallic units. After an initial 500 mile breakin, no noise. Also the stopping really improved with those carbon metallics.

Had the same thing happen in my 54 F-100 when I changed it over to disc brakes. It is almost always cheap pads that cause squeaks....in a system with new pads, anyway. After changing out the cheap pads for the "premium" ones from the auto parts store....the squealing was gone. Who'd have thunk it?

Not True Man I got some after market metal pads and they squeal like crazy, But i gusse it depends on the brand you get, Any 1 have a good suggestion for some good pads that will last and not squeal thanks

Fair enough. Not all brake pads are equal. The ones I use and recommend are Bendix premiums...
