front rotors frozen
i have a 1998 f 150 4 x 4 and an i have 77,235 miles on the truck i still have the original rotors and i went to replace them both. the rotors seemed like they were frozen to the spindle, i had used the heat treatment and a 4 pound sledge the only thing i didnt have at the time was some pb blaster. but the funny thing was when i called the ford dealer they told me in order to replace the rotors they have to use a hydrualic wheel press to remove the rotors and to put them back on i did not believe them because i never heard of a hydrualic wheel press they told me 200 dollars a side for the removal of the old rotor and to replace it with a new rotor. some how some way i do not believe that all, i think they are just trying to make money off of me, and after reading some of these other messages pb blaster and a 6 pound sledge sounds good to me, any suggestion would be most helpful thanks
The rotors are not pressed on, they just slip over the studs and spindle. Your rotors are rusted on... I got mine off by alternately heating the hub area with a torch and dumping cold water on them. After 3 or 4 cycles of doing that a regular hammer did the trick. I cleaned the rust off with a small wire-wheel in a drill and then put a very thin coat of anti-seize compound on the hub and the part of the back of the new rotor that mates with the hub. Won't rust together again...

i finally got my rotors off, after we drilled a series of 3/16 holes from the hub to the outside of the rotor (in between the studs) and used a chisel and a 3 pound mini sledge it only took 5 minutes to get them off
