I have got new tires on my 1996 f150, and they are 31x10.5x15. My spare is the original 235x75(?).
Will it hurt the truck to have these different sizes on for a short distance?
I have an open differential if that makes any difference.
Should I take one aff the front, will that make steering impossible?
Thanks for your input!

I'd say you would be ok for a short distance with the open diff. Don't do it with a LS rear or you will ruin it. And don't do like I've seen others do and run for weeks with their space saver spare on. Get it replaced the next day.

You will probably feel a difference in steering if you put it on the front. Probably just pull to one side or the other.

Any reason you can't find a used 31x10.50? I'd think it would still fit in the stock location? Just a guess on that however.......

I agree, you should be OK for a short distance with the open diff. If you were off road at the time you put on the spare, you may find it difficult getting out of 4x4 with the different size tires depending on the type of hubs and transfer case you have. I would definitely look around for a matching spare.
