chodie1,
I have no personal experience with your particular setup. It is not a bad combination, especially if you're going for economy instead of performance. Mileage-wise, it's about the best combo available; high gears, tall tires, and V6 motor. I would bet you're probably getting 20+ mpg on the highway pretty regular. If it's performance you're looking for, what you've got ain't it, but you have a few options. First, change out the gears, to at least 3.55, which can be a little pricey. Second, wait until it's new tire time and go with a smaller diameter tire. For example, going with a 26" diameter tire instead of your 30" tire does the same thing for you as swapping to the 3.55. As far as what can be done with the V6, you'd have to go to that Section for suggestions. I don't know if I've helped at all, but I thought I'd give you my 2 cents. Good luck!

This is the setup I have. People tend to knock the 3.08 rear end, saying it boggs down but I don't have a complaint. Much of this has to do with my driving style though I'm sure. It does great on the highway and just fine in town. You simply don't have the
get-up-n-go that you find with a higher gear ratio.

Before I had a duel exhaust my truck felt way to heavy from a stop but since the addition of duels it definatley feels much lighter.

I was actually getting better milage with the stock exhaust because I never tried to push it. Best I did was about 25 MPG with an average of 20-22 MPG during a regular work week. I now get 19-20 MPG.

Occationally I will spin my tires so I know that the power is still there.

You may notice that without a chip the transmission will drop out of O/D almost right away on hills because at 60 MPH the RPM's are just over 1500.

Sometimes I wish I had a higher ratio but it's not a problem once you start moving.

I have the 3.08 gears with a 4.6 5 speed and do not have a problem, plenty of power and lots of good gas milage. If i wanted to have lots of power i'd have bought a "L". but i live in snow city and must have a 4x4 always, always , always.
