trying to get the best of both worlds with tires.
trying to get the best of both worlds with tires.
I do a lot of high way and dirt road driving. I know I want to stick with all terrain tires. I have 02 ford f150 fx4 lariat super crew cab. I want to stick something like 330 on for tires (285s?). I switched from the 17" stock wheels to 16" steel wheels due to a tire popping situation and having to keep rolling on a wheel in the middle of the woods. I've read a lot of good things about cooper all terrain tires. But from experience what is goin to be my best choice in brands?
I can't answer your question because my truck is a pavement beater but welcome to the site. I am sure someone will have good advice soon. I hear alot of folks like the new BFG AT KO2 and the Nitto Terra Grappler though. Not sure if they would fit the bill for you though. I have never run either of them.
In the end it just comes down to personal preference and experience. Take the choices you have and the advice you get and make your choice. Do a lot of research on line as well. Go to each manufacturer's website. Check out reviews on sites like www.tirerack.com. www.1010tires.com. www.ntb.com. www.onlinetires.com. www.discounttiredirect.com. I have an '11 Lariat 4x4 SuperCrew. I can only vouch for the Cooper tires. I live in Delaware and have property in the hills of West Virginia. I've been using Cooper tires for a lot of years. I have two sets of AT3's, and a set of Discoverer M+S tires for winter duty. The first set of AT3's I put on a set of stock rims because at the time, I couldn't find a nice chrome rim that didn't look "Run of the Mill". Once I found a rim I liked, I just pulled the stock rims with the current AT3's off the truck, and bought a new set of AT3's for the chrome rims. I love them. I thought they were quiet on the road, handled real nice and had great traction. I tow a Polaris Ranger in a 7x14 enclosed trailer out to WV every hunting season, and several times during the year. I have no problem towing that up the dirt roads that can get quiet muddy. But, I didn't like them so much in the snow. I'm use to a dedicated, studded winter tire during the winter. So Last year (Nov. of '13 now), I bought a set of Discoverer M+S tires for winter duty. So far they have been excellent as well.
