That's what I was thinking. I heard toyo are pretty good. I'll probably go with the R/T since its a little more aggressive looking

I have the duratracs now and love them, but have never used the R/Ts. My dad has the A/T2 extreme and really loves them also, so you can't go wrong with either.

Ok, wanted to chime in. I don't understand why people have such issues with Nitto. I am on my 3rd set overall of Nitto and haven't had treadlife issues on any of them. My first set were the Terra Grapplers (A/T) in a 305/55/20 (33"). Those lasted me better part of 4 years and 56K miles. Really only swapped them because I was tired of them. Moved onto the Trail Grapplers (M/T) in the same size. Had those for roughly 24K before I sold that truck. And they still looked virtually unused. New truck and am back to the Trail Grapplers. This time in a 295/60/20 (34.5"). I just hit 50K miles on them at my last rotation and balance. Still tons of tread left. I can show pictures if need be. I rotate and balance every 5K miles. Now my truck is 99% road driven. I've never done any real off-roading. But just wanted to chime in. I'm hard-pressed not to stay with this tire since I've had such great luck with it.

I hear mixed reports on them. Some say they are good and they have great tread life but 99% of the people I talk to can't stand them and won't buy another set. I'd be willing to try them again but I'm not going to for a while. I'm going with goodyears next

Need some opions. I like the looks of the Goodyear duratrac but I heard they have issues with puncture and pretty sloppy traction when it's wet. So what's your guys opions ? Second the cooper discover AT3 was told it was voted #1 best all around at tire ? Any word in that ? Then what about the cooper light truck/suv tire. How's that ? Has anyone ran them ? Third the toyo open country at2 extreme what's the opions on them.

Traction with my Goodyear's so for is pretty good. Haven't felt very much slop, and for a 12" wide tire I'm impressed.. Only had them for about 1000 miles tho so can't speak on puncture. AT3 I heard are a cheaper tire and I had a set of their ATx I think it was and they were total crap. My dad so far really likes his AT2 extreme no complaints.

No in debating. The duratrac and the cooper st and st maxx. I hear some people say they are both great in snow and off road and on road. But then read a guy's blog saying they sucked in snow and in the mud. That the duratracs were better. Also heard remarks of people saying the duratracs didn't last to long. kinda leaning more towards the duratracs and the st maxx just because of the looks but the st isn't bad either.

I am currently running a set of 255/80-17 Cooper ST Maxx's on my truck. Since I work in the woods I get quite a bit of highway miles and off road conditions all year. Given our winter I haven't had them in much snow yet but since they are new, they have handled the snow and slick conditions I have been in really well. The logging sides have been real muddy and these tires pulled through them real well.

Also, they hook up on wet streets a lot better than previous brands.

ST Maxx or MThompson ATX P3s> Duratracs IMHO. and they will last longer than the Duratracs. Duratracs will chip easier than the Maxx's off-road, related to the tire compound I'm sure. The coopers will ride better on both highway and off-road combined, plus they are quieter.

I've got about 10k out of my ST MAxx's (35") thus far and they still look like I just got them. Same driving habits as with the Goodyears & I only got 38k out of them before I had to replace them.
