Unhappy What torque for lug nuts on 2001's?

Help! Does anyone know where to find the torque specs for the lug nuts? I just rotated my tires on a 2001 Supercrew with stock, 16", aluminum wheels. I spent 2 hours looking on the web and in my owners manual with no luck. I don't want to undertorque them and have the wheels fall off, or overtorque them, stretch the studs and warp the brake rotors.

I was told by a tire shop that it is 150 LBS. I have a 01 SCrew also. Sounds high but that is what his chart told him. On the other hand my car was 73LBS.

It's 150 ft/lbs. There is an instruction sheet with the jack that has the torque spec on it. If you have really good eyesight you can look at the lug nuts and see 150 ft/lbs stamped on them.

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You

I love this site. Thanks for the quick response. I was getting all bent out of shape that this information wasn't stamped on the wheel or in the owners manual. After reading the responses I looked and sure enough, the plastic card with the jack(which I was not using) says "torque to 135-160 ft-lbs - see spec". There is no spec.

But, just like 01sport says, it is stamped on the lug nut itself! My lugs are a 2 part lug - the lug nut and an attached washer. The tiny lettering on the washer says "150".

Sorry for wasting your time guys - I was doing this in the rain, it was overcast and dark and I didn't see it.

I too looked for that info with no luck. Actually downloaded the PDF version of the owner's manual and did key-word searches -- with no luck.

Funny, since with my '97 Ford had a recall due to the stupid lug nut design -- so I just KNEW that they'd have mentioned torque a zillion times with the subsequent year vehicles.

I've got the steel wheels, and am about to rotate them again -- so I'll get my magnifying glass and go review the jacking instructions -- thanks to 01sport.

150 lbs sounds awfully high! How hard will it be to remove them along side the road with the small hand given with vehicle? Most aluminum wheels call for only 70 to 80 lbs of torque.
