New Tires: Horrible Gas mileage

Hey,

I have a 07 and last year I put a 2" leveling kit on front and new tires. The tires are Goodyear Wrangler Dura Track LT285/70r17. In the past with my stock tires and no level kit I was averaging around 15mpg. I have tracked my mileage (gas cubby app) since the day I put the new tires on and the average is 10mpg. Does this sound right to you guys? I knew my mileage was going to drop, but not this much.

The leveling and the tires will definitely hurt, but are the new tires taller than the stock? If so, you are actually traveling farther than the odometer tells you unless it was recalibrated.

Welcome to the world of modifying a stock truck! The things we do for looks, huh? Yup, bigger tires will definitely hurt your MPG. But like Bluejay said, if you haven't recalibrated your speedo, you're actually getting better MPG than you think.

A massive portion of that is ALL speedo-inaccuracies.

You probably did lose 2 whole mpg though. Big mud tires and lift do that.
