I'm putting new tires on my truck next week but I'm not sure of exactly what I want, what would you guys recommend? I was thinking something like Nitto Mud Grapplers or Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ. I want to put 33"s on

 

Best for what? Cost, mileage, performance, looks, etc?

I am on my 3rd set of Nitto Trail Grapplers and they have been an excellent tire in terms of longevity and traction.

 

OK...gotta ask. They've been excellent for longevity but you're on your third set and that tire really hasn't been out that long. How many miles are you getting out of them?

Even though they're both "mud" tires, there's actually a pretty big gap in how these two will perform. The Nitto's a pretty drastic tire where that MT will still be liveable on the street. But yea, like everyone else said, more info needed. If you're going completely after looks, then stop asking questions and buy what you like and live with it!

 

I've been hearing great reviews on the BFG KM2......for mileage..noise...and traction....ill be going with a set of 345/75/16s very soon

 

I'm looking for the best performance wise, which will get me out of sticky situations which other tires won't do.

 

I had BF Goodrich Mud-Terrain KM2's on my Expedition. I can't really comment on the off-road ability or mileage of them, but they were quiet on the road for having an aggressive tread pattern.

 

I had good luck with Toyo MT's....good for driving to work during the week and also for playing in the mud or sand on the weekend's. You can get 50 to 60K miles out of them if taken care of.

 

If you don't care about road manners or life, interco tires are basically only good for getting out of those sticky situations. If you want better road manners, nitto mud grapplers are close to swamper performance in mud. Then the km2s, toyo open country m/ts, and the Mickey Thompson mtz's all perform well on and off road and are good choices.

 

1st set had a little less than half-tread at 42k miles when I sold them to a friend. Could have continued to run them but at that time I was in the mud too much and just put that money towards a new set.

2nd set had probably 10k miles on them and looked almost brand new. Sold them on Craigslist when I went from a GMC to a Ford because I was going from a 17" wheel to an 18" wheel.

3rd set have 2k miles on them so far and no issues.

 

Loved my Maxxis Bighorns. They never let me down. Only time I ever got stuck was when a mud hole ruts were a bit too deep and I got stock on the frame itself.

 

I love my toyo mt's. 12k miles on them so far and still look new, really nice aggressive look. Not a whole lot of road noise either. Played in the mud some, no issues so far.

 

Trail grapplers are the best imo... I ran mylast set for 40k and hever had a wear problem, besides me spinnin tires everywere haha but i would have got alot more outa them if i would have rotated them. they were awesom in slick , nasty mud and great on the street .. Low noise, look aggressive , great tire
