2004 XL front brake change..

Hey guys...I just got my truck back and was told that my front pads need to be changed and was thinking to just change the rotors as well..

I want to do this myself....is there an article on how to do this? I've changed pads on my stang...but not sure if it's the same?

Thanks in advance guys!!

Agreed, very little difference from what I have seen in front brakes on Fords. Changing them on my Escape I had was really no different than changing them was on my old ranger or even my '89 Cougar.

Just a heads up on the rotors. This assuming that your truck is 2WD (You said it's an XL so I'm guessing it might be),

On the front discs the hubs are mounted in the rotors as one piece. I found this out the hard way when I went to upgrade my OEM rotors to the Powerslot slotted Cryo Rotors. I'm tired and rambling, but basically I had to order the 4WD hub from Centric so that I could use the Powerslot rotors. It was a frustrating not knowing that then, but at this point I can use 4WD Rotors and there is a bigger selection of them.

I had some pictures, but I'm not on my computer..

Anyway if you want to know more feel free to send me a message!

...and if you have 4WD then I don't think any of this applies to you, so sorry about the monologue in the middle of your thread...

If those rotors catch your fingernail change them, if not probably ok to du the pads. U R in Hawaii and not a lot of high speed stops I'm thinking.
