Getting new tires
Getting new tires
Hey everybody, so my tires have officially bit the dust. Ive decided to take this opportunity to go ahead and make a change with the wheel as well. I plan on going up to 20" XD Monsters (black).
Now my problem is choosing a tire, Im thinking 285/50/20 or 285/55/20.
*what im looking for in a tire*
1. I do almost all my driving on the road, pretty even mix of city and highway. I would say im about 60% conservative driver and 40% aggressive.
2. But id also like something that wouldnt leave me alone and stranded if i had to take a dirt road.
3. Tread wear is also important to me, Looking for something that will last me at least 35k or 40k miles.
4. Price somewhere around 200.
5. Something with at least a somewhat aggressive look would be nice.
So far ive only looked at the Kumho Ecsta STX and Yokohama Parada Spec-X.
Im open to suggestions and thoughts on these two tires.

I just did the same thing. I am blacking my truck out and went with XD monsters 20x9. Tire wise I went with the Nitto Terra Grappler. nothing too aggressive, but is enough to get you through some dirt/mud if necessary. From reviews about these tires, when properly taken care of, have potential to be a 60k mile tire. Here's where it gets fun.
you can go 285/50/20 and they should fit no problem. I went with a 305/55/20 on my 20" monsters w/ a 2 inch in front. The tires can get up there in price, but all bull***** aside, you want to know 100% and rely on your tires. Just something to think about.
I had the Kuhmo A/T tire on my truck last summer/winter and they were absolutely awful. I couldn't stand them. No traction in wetness.
just something to think about.

I'd look at the Nitto Terra Grappler, Toyo AT, Cooper Zeon LTZ or something similar in a 285/55-20 or 305/55-20 size.
