Nitto Trail Grapplers
I love my trail grapplers. Just a bit of advice. I know its supposed to be common practice, but really stay on your tire inflation. With the weight of these tires, you will really notice a difference in acceleration and fuel economy if you let your tire pressure drop too much. I had been negligent on mine and they were at around 38 psi (too low). I reinflated up to 45 and the truck drives much better.
I really like that look. Gonna get the rancho quicklift, powdercoat my 18" oem wheels black, and some new tires. I'm struggling between trails or duratracs.
Rims?
That looks badass. That's what I'm going for. I ordered my 2" lift, super 10 series muffler and Bully Dog tuner today and can't wait to install.
As far as tires and wheel go, I believe I read the biggest tires I can go with a 2" leveling kit on my truck (09 STX 4x4) would be 33" tires. That's where my dilemma comes into play.
Guys, please give me your input! I was going to Plasti-Dip spray my stock 18's and get 33" tires to put on and call it a day. HOWEVER! I can't get past how gnarly these trucks look being all blacked out sitting on fresh 20" rims with a meaty tire.
Question: Do I leave the stock 18's and put the 33's on there or break down and go all out and buy some sick rims and tires?
Hell yeah, Russ.

And its really a call only you can make. If you like a bit more of a stocky look, you'd want to think about the aftermarket wheels since you can then adjust the backspacing to give you the stance you like. If you stay stock, you'd have to go with spacers for that look. If you just prefer biggest tire you can fit and want to keep it under the truck for the most part, I'd say stick with your stock wheels. Hope that helps some. The tough part, if you decide to stay stock and then don't like it, you'll be stuck with aftermarket 18's. Won't be able to go to 20's (if thats what interests you) without buying all new.

Thanks! Yeah, when its time to get new shocks, I'm debating between swapping out the level for the quicklifts.

Thanks! And actually, the tires I'm running are actually a 34.4" tire. If you stay with the stock 18" wheels, you can go that size for sure. I had to do some plastic trimming on the lower front valence and the backside of the front wheel well.

I've been researching what size tires to get with a leveled front end, and FWIW, it seems that 305/55/20 is a popular choice among people that have already done it.
It works out to 33.2" tall X 12" wide with a 6.6" section(sidewall) height.
What everyone needs to consider when making this kind of decision however is, tire manufacturers all have different ACTUAL MEASUREMENTS for each size, so if you're planning on pushing the envelope, you'd be best served by buying your tires locally instead of over the internet, so you can test-fit one first.
FYI- Here's a good easy-to-use tire size calculator/converter(courtesy of 4WParts):

Right on. If I go aftermarket rims, they would be 20's. No point in buying 18's when I already have 18" stock. I already bought a 2" leveling kit for the front so I'm probably gonna end up getting 20" rims and appropriate tires to fit without rubbing. thanks for the help.

I prefer the 18's since it will give you better sidewall protection.
I went with 305/60/18's DC FC 11/s so far, there a great tire
that comes out to just shy of 33" and they only clear by 1/2" with the 2" Ready Lift but no trimming was needed

Also u should note, 20" rims/tires cost much more than 18's if money is an issue.

Running 295/70-18 Trail Grapplers on my wife's Jeep JKU... VERY heavy tire... But impressively quiet for a MT tire. The little minivan engine in the Jeep with 3.73 gears just barely tolerates these heavy beasts. Gas mileage went from 18.5 to 15 mpg. The good news, the Jeep is so light, with regular rotations they should last for ever!
I purchased my rims and tires today... did I get ripped off or get a good deal?
Set of 20x9 XD Monster wheels wrapped w/ 305/55/20 Nitto Terra Grapplers. $2200 out the door. Mounted, balanced etc... Average price? Rip off?
Just curious if it was a wise purchase?

You did well. Thats a smidge less than what I paid for my wheels and tires (same wheels, my tires are slightly bigger). I had Discount Tire match a price I found online, so I think you did just fine.
Whelp boys, here she is.

Sry russ. It resembles yours a lot. I was going to get the Rockstars, but they don't come in a 9" width; only 10" and 8.5". So the Monsters were the next best. Let's just say its the little brother to your SCrew.
To keep the running boards and plasti-dip them black? OR take them off? hmmm....
