225/75/16 tire question
225/75/16 tire question
My 2001 F-150 I just bought came with some 255/70's which are oversize- the doorjamb says 235/70/16s. I would like to replace them with a set of Goodyear Wrangler ST's (local store has warehouse overstock deal @ $324/set) . I think they will work just fine, but was wondering what others here think-?
I work for Goodyear, and I'm gonna tell you that you're gonna hate those tires.
My dad had those on his Jeep Cherokee, and he couldn't get them off it fast enough.
Those tires have a super soft sidewall, and the tread pattern makes them grab cracks and crevasses in the road and make the vehicle feel like it's wandering.
I don't like to sell them at work, and only do when people specifically ask for them, or a dealer wants to buy a set.
That size of that tire is only around because of the Jeep OEM application.
The size will work fine. The 225/75R16 is just about the same height as the 235/70R16. I've upsized many Jeeps to 235/70R16 and 245/70R16 from the stock 225/75R16.

Not a problem!
If you look around a bit, you might be able to find some Goodyear Wrangler RT/S tires in a size that will fit your truck. Good fit for that generation F150, and can be had for relatively inexpensive.
You can go up to 255/70R16 on that truck without issue.
