changing rims and tires

Hello All,

I have a 98 Expedition and wanted to change my rims and tires to 305/45-22. I know the rims are a lot bigger than the stock 17" with the 265/70 tires, but I would like to know if I had to do anything to the gears or anything else? If I do, could you please give me directions as to how I can go about doing this. Thanks in advance.

you wouldn't have to do anything, but if you have 3.73 gears right now they are going to be more like 3.55 after. you could go up to 4.10's if you are bothered by the perfromance decrease, but keep in mind you don't have to. you could also have your speedometer corrected, at about 45 mph you will be going 1-2 mph faster than it says. again, not something that has to be done. just keep that in mind when you are driving. try this link for more questions
