The 2011 FX4 uses a direct TPMS system. This means the sensors are directly mounted on the wheels. The sensors uses pressure transducers to send the pressure in the tire to the vehicle to warn you of over/under inflation. It is commonly relayed using a radio frequency.

I bought mine from tasca and I had the tire store go and install them. It was around $100 bucks I believe.

You can buy the sensors from Tire Rack for $42 each. Shouldn't be anymore then $15 per wheel to have them installed. Register the new ones following the owner's manual directions and you are done.

Why don't you just reuse your OEM sensors? That's what most people do.

Air pressure monitoring system

Hi, I am a new owner of a 2012 F150 Ecoboost truck. Never had Ford truck before. It`s a great truck. I need to buy 4 new rims and tires for winter driving. Is there a way to disconnect the TPMS so the light does not come on if I don't install sensors on my wheels? The sensors are expensive and I am confident that I can feel a low pressure tire after 45+ years of driving.

No it cannot be disconnected. Nor can it be fooled by putting the sensors in a pressure container and storing in the truck or spare. Either purchase new sensors or reuse the OE. If reusing OE you will have to purchase the proper valve stems that the sensors are attached to.

I think its well worth the money as the the light on the dash drove me nuts for the 2 days it was on, on my dash. I put the tpms in my new wheels and it didnt flash until after I drove the truck a day so I just ordered the tool to reset it myself so had to put up with the light a few days. But that light and the beep to let me know there was something wrong was very annoying.
